The Handover of 10 Production Units of Jilin Petrochemical Was Completed in the Intermediate Stage

On April 30, 2025, the intermediate handover of 10 production units, including the 1.2 million tons per year ethylene unit, of the Refining and Chemical Transformation and Upgrading Project of Jilin Petrochemical was completed with high standards.
The Refining and Chemical Transformation and Upgrading Project of Jilin Petrochemical is a demonstration project for the green and low-carbon transformation of traditional refining and chemical enterprises in China, as well as a demonstration project for the comprehensive and in-depth strategic cooperation between PetroChina and local governments. Since the project started, all participating construction units have overcome the dual constraints of climatic conditions and geographical location. During the peak construction period, nearly 10,000 workers and hundreds of large construction machines were working simultaneously. Industry records such as "5 lifts in 37 days" for 5 thousand-ton large towers of the ethylene unit in extremely cold weather, "16 lifts in 55 days" for 16 oversized towers, and a 3-month compression in the installation cycle of ethylene cracking furnaces compared with the same period in previous years have been created.
The newly built 1.2 million tons per year ethylene unit adopts the CBL cracking technology and LECT separation technology of Sinopec. It can produce 1.2 million tons of polymer-grade ethylene and 560,000 tons of polymer-grade propylene annually. At the same time, it can also produce by-products such as hydrogen, mixed C4, crude pyrolysis gasoline, pyrolysis diesel, and pyrolysis fuel oil (pyrolysis naphtha fraction). After the full-scale production, the total ethylene production capacity of Jilin Petrochemical will reach 1.9 million tons per year. Its ethylene production capacity and chemical scale will reach the advanced domestic level, achieving remarkable results in "reducing oil production and increasing chemical production", and forming an industrial layout and product structure with the characteristics and competitive advantages of Jilin Petrochemical. In terms of its demonstration role in green and low-carbon development, the 1.2 million tons per year ethylene unit of Jilin Petrochemical includes environmental protection facilities such as desulfurization and denitrification, which can effectively reduce the emission of nitrogen oxides.
