On the morning of June 6, the commissioning ceremony for China Pingmei Shenma Energy Chemical Group¡äs 100,000 tons/year adiponitrile plant and the launching ceremony for the 200,000 tons/year adiponitrile project were held at Nylon Technology Company. This marks a major breakthrough in ending the long-term "chokepoint" situation where key raw materials for nylon 66, adiponitrile, were controlled by foreign chemical giants, taking the first step toward reconstructing China¡äs nylon industry landscape.
As a high-performance engineering plastic, nylon 66 plays an irreplaceable role in aerospace, defense industries, and other fields, with adiponitrile being its key raw material. Currently, China is the world¡äs largest importer of adiponitrile, and this technical challenge has severely constrained the development of China¡äs nylon industry. Therefore, the localization of adiponitrile has been listed as a major national scientific and technological research project.
According to reports, the adiponitrile project is a major scientific research initiative established by China Pingmei Shenma Energy Chemical Group to tackle the supply challenges of key raw materials in the nylon industrial chain and achieve independent control of core technologies. As the R&D and construction carrier for the group¡äs "7+2" major scientific research projects, Nylon Technology Company overcame difficulties and successfully developed a new technical route with independent intellectual property rights, reaching international advanced standards. This product can completely replace imported adiponitrile, achieving a leapfrog breakthrough from "trailing" to "leading" in innovation.
