On June 30, Liaoyang Petrochemical Company witnessed a milestone moment - the successful handover of the 3,000-ton/year ethane oxidative dehydrogenation (EDH) to ethylene industrial pilot plant. As the world′s largest plant of its kind in terms of scale, it has successfully moved from the construction phase to the production preparation phase. This not only demonstrates Liaoyang Petrochemical′s forward-looking vision and innovative capabilities in the field of ethylene production technology but also signifies a solid step taken by the petrochemical industry in exploring a low-carbon, efficient, and environmentally friendly path.

The EDH technology adopted in this pilot plant was jointly developed by Liaoyang Petrochemical Company and the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. With ethane and oxygen as the main raw materials, the plant produces high-purity polymer-grade ethylene through precise conversion under different operating conditions with the help of high-efficiency catalysts, while by-producing valuable chemical raw materials such as acetic acid.

The ethane oxidative dehydrogenation to ethylene technology, with its advantages of low energy consumption, low cost, and environmental friendliness, has become a new ethylene production route leading the future development of the industry.
