New Progress of the 15-Million-Tonne Large-Scale Coal Chemical Project

On November 5, the control room of the vinyl acetate unit in the first phase of the second project of Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd., undertaken by the Infrastructure Branch of China National Chemical Engineering No.2 Construction Co., Ltd., was successfully capped. As the "neural hub" and "smart brain" for the automated control of the unit, the high-quality construction and smooth capping of the control room have laid a solid foundation for the subsequent installation and commissioning of the entire vinyl acetate unit.
The 15 million tonnes/year coal graded, clean and efficient conversion demonstration project¡äs olefin, aromatic hydrocarbon and deep processing project of Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd. is built on the basis of the first-phase project. Through the system integration of coal pyrolysis, coal/semi-coke gasification and downstream deep processing technologies, it further expands and extends the industrial chain, and explores a new path for the coupled development of coal-based olefins and coal-based aromatic hydrocarbons. It produces four categories of high-value-added products including high-performance materials, battery electrolyte solvents, degradable materials and special oils, and ultimately manufactures chemical products such as polyolefins, polyesters, polycarbonates, polyether polyols, EVA, POE, SAP, DMC, DEC, EMC and EC, realizing the high-end, diversified and low-carbon development of the coal chemical industry.
In accordance with the principle of "overall planning and phased implementation", the second-phase project is divided into the first phase of the second project and subsequent projects. The first phase of the second project covers an area of approximately 9,200 mu with a total estimated investment of about 62 billion yuan. It adopts 9 sets of 3,500-tonne-class space furnaces for coal gasification, mainly constructing 5.6 million tonnes/year coal-to-methanol, 1.48 million tonnes/year methanol-to-olefin and downstream deep processing units. It will produce 8 categories of products including polyethylene, polypropylene, EVA and SAP, with a total annual output of 2.77 million tonnes.
