2026-1-9
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Water Resources jointly released the Catalogue of Industrial Water-Saving Processes, Technologies and Equipment Encouraged by China (2025 Edition). Classified by the maturity stages of the included processes, technologies and equipment, the Catalogue (2025 Edition) is primarily divided into R&D, Industrialization Demonstration, and Promotion and Application. It covers a total of 150 items, including general and universal technologies as well as water-saving processes, technologies and equipment for 13 industrial sectors such as iron and steel, petrochemical and chemical engineering, and textile printing and dyeing.
Seventeen processes, technologies and pieces of equipment from the petrochemical and chemical engineering sector have been included in the catalogue, namely: technology for treatment and resource utilization of drilling and testing wastewater from oil and gas field development, water-saving process technology for offshore fracturing and flooding, collaborative treatment equipment for modified plastics via dry vacuum technology to save water, reduce pollution and cut carbon emissions, technology for treatment and reuse of increased gas-making wastewater, low-emission chloride-processed titanium dioxide production unit, equipment for treatment and recycling of acidic wastewater from titanium dioxide production, multi-stage adsorption, desalination, regeneration and reuse technology for titanium dioxide wastewater, water-washing process for titanium dioxide production with full high-titanium slag, zero-discharge technology for saline wastewater from chlor-alkali chemical industry, advanced treatment and reuse technology for refinery wastewater, complete set of technologies for zero-discharge and resource utilization of high-salinity wastewater from coal chemical industry, comprehensive treatment and reuse technology for refinery catalyst wastewater, combined technology of active molecular membrane ultrafiltration and multi-functional group fiber adsorption for condensed water, treatment technology for alkaline condensate from solid caustic soda evaporation, reuse technology for regenerated wastewater from ion-exchange membrane chelating resin towers, water-saving equipment for furfural production, treatment and reuse technology for produced water from heavy oil recovery with high temperature, high salinity and high hardness.
Compared with the 2023 Edition, the number of water-saving technologies in the petrochemical and chemical engineering sector has decreased by 15. Among the 17 items in the 2025 Edition, 13 are in the promotion and application stage, 2 in the industrialization demonstration stage, and 2 in the R&D stage.
