Latest Progress on 1.2 Million Ton Ethylene Project of Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum

Recently, Shaanxi¡äs energy and chemical industry has achieved a major breakthrough¡ªShaanxi Yanchang Petroleum¡¯s Yan¡äan 10 million tons/year integrated refining and upgrading project has passed reviews by multiple national ministries and commissions, and has been officially submitted to the State Council for final approval, marking the critical final stage before project implementation.
According to reports, as a key energy project in Shaanxi Province¡äs 14th Five-Year Plan and the core layout of Yanchang Petroleum¡äs industrial transformation, this project carries the dual mission of energy upgrading in the revolutionary old base of northern Shaanxi and high-quality development of the refining and petrochemical industry, drawing significant attention from both the industry and local authorities. Located in the Luochuan Industrial Park of Luochuan County, Yan¡äan City, Shaanxi Province, the project has a total investment of approximately 80.29 billion yuan, making it one of the largest single-unit projects invested by Yanchang Petroleum in recent years. Centered on the core positioning of "reducing oil and increasing chemicals, green intelligence, and transformation and upgrading," the project plans to newly develop 35 core refining and petrochemical facilities, including a 10-million-ton/year atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit and a 1.2-million-ton/year ethylene unit, while simultaneously shutting down and consolidating outdated facilities in existing plants such as the Yan¡äan Refinery to optimize production capacity and iterate processes. Upon completion, it will establish a modern high-end refining and petrochemical base integrating oil refining, chemical production, and new materials, driving Yanchang Petroleum¡äs transition from a "single-oil dominance" to a "diverse support of oil, gas, coal, and chemicals," and enhancing the competitiveness of Shaanxi¡äs petrochemical industry nationwide.
As of now, all preliminary work for the project is progressing smoothly, with supporting projects such as the Yan¡äan Crude Oil Reserve Depot already implemented in advance to ensure raw material supply after the project¡äs completion.
