Jiangxi Province Identifies the First Batch of Pilot Zones for Future Industries

Recently, the Office of the Leading Group for Building a Strong Industrial Province in Jiangxi Province released the list of 2025 Jiangxi Pilot Zones for the Identification and Cultivation of Future Industries. A total of 10 pilot zones has been selected, including the Comprehensive Pilot Zone for Future Industries in Nanchang High-tech Zone. These zones cover a number of key fields, such as copper-based new materials and rare precious metals, future aviation, embodied intelligence and humanoid robots.
The Pilot Zones for Future Industries are trial platforms established by the province to forward lookingly plan the layout of future industries, foster new drivers of development, and build a modern industrial system. At the end of 2024, Jiangxi Province issued the Action Plan for the Cultivation and Development of Future Industries in Jiangxi Province (2024¨C2026). The plan sets the goal that by 2026, the province will develop a number of future industrial clusters or concentrated development zones worth 50 billion yuan and 100 billion yuan, and cultivate about 20 pilot zones.
In recent years, Jiangxi Province has promoted the vision of future industries from concept to reality by adopting a package of measures featuring policy guidance, scenario opening, fund empowerment and industrial chain coordination. The province focuses on upgrading existing industries toward future orientation and industrializing cutting-edge future technologies. It has made forward-looking plans for six key development sectors: future materials, future energy, future bio-industry, future health, future display and future aviation. It has strategically mapped out new industrial tracks such as advanced metal materials, brain-computer interfaces, embodied intelligence and humanoid robots, nuclear medicine, solid-state batteries, optoelectronics and bio-manufacturing. A fundamental framework for the development of future industries has been initially established.
Going forward, Jiangxi Province will focus its efforts on three key areas: technological breakthroughs, enterprise cultivation, and industrial development. In terms of technological breakthroughs, the province will strengthen high-level innovation platforms such as the Ganjiang Innovation Academy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, systematically implement the 2030 Sailing Program and the 2030 Pioneer Project, and enhance basic research and the development of key and core technologies. In terms of enterprise cultivation, it will vigorously foster high-tech enterprises and specialized, sophisticated, unique, and new small and medium-sized enterprises, strengthen the leading role of enterprises in innovation, and drive various innovation resources to concentrate in enterprises.
In terms of industrial development, in line with the key directions laid out and cultivated for JiangxiĄŻs pilot zones for future industries, the province will focus on new technologies, new products and new application scenarios, sort out regional task lists and project lists, guide all regions to shift the focus from heavy investment to high-quality services and incubation, and seize the commanding heights of future development.
